ProteaseZyme delivers protein-processing power to the gut

Our bodies use a countless number of enzymes when processing food, each one biologically engineered to digest certain nutrients. In the case of protein, it’s protease enzymes that do the heavy lifting. Protease enzymes (also referred to as peptidases or proteinases) are responsible for breaking down the chemical bonds that tie proteins together. This process divides the protein into amino acids, which can then be absorbed by the gut.

Without protease enzymes, it would take hundreds of years for proteins to digest, so they play an important role in our health. Many people suffer from enzyme deficiencies or digestive disorders that make protein digestion difficult. ProteaseZyme was formulated to help those people achieve gut balance.

What ingredients are in ProteaseZyme?

Each dose of ProteaseZyme includes a proprietary blend of protease enzymes and bromelain. Here’s a closer look at both:

The enzyme blend

ProteaseZyme includes more than 355,000 HUT of peptidases, but unless you work with enzymes, that number may not make sense. In the world of nutrition, reputable enzyme supplements are not measured by their weight. That’s because the type of enzyme is more important than the amount of enzyme. Listing the enzyme count by weight doesn’t make sense, then, if you’re comparing products.

HUT stands for hemoglobin unit tyrosine and refers to the amount of enzymatic activity the enzyme is capable of producing. How much work it can do, in other words. It’s not important to understand exactly what HUT means, only that it refers to what the protease does specifically – break down proteins.

The larger the number of HUTs, the more work the enzyme can do. ProteaseZyme’s peptidase blend has an extremely high HUT count, which means it can process more protein than your typical protease supplement.

The bromelain

Bromelain is a mix of proteases found in the fruit and juice of the pineapple plant. It is a popular ingredient in protease supplements and has been used in medicine for centuries, mostly in South and Central America.

In addition to helping with protein digestion, research suggests that bromelain could provide other health benefits. Several animal studies have found that bromelain could help with cardiovascular health (bromelain interferes with blood clotting) and osteoarthritis and colitis, due to its anti-pain and anti-inflammatory qualities. Bromelain may even be effective against certain tumors, as a 2010 study revealed.

What else do Protease enzymes do in the body?

Protease enzymes are one of life’s foundational building blocks. They’ve evolved separately in many animals and plants, and they fill many important roles. In addition to processing protein, protease enzymes could also do the following:

Improve the symptoms of some digestive disorders

Research shows that protease supplementation could help with common digestive problems like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Two studies that looked at more than 200 IBS patients found that taking a supplement with protease eased constipation, bloating, gas, abdominal pain and painful bowel movements. Bromelain has also been shown to reduce the inflammation associated with IBD.

Improve the symptoms of inflammatory disorders

Several types of protease enzymes have been researched for their anti-inflammatory qualities, and research is promising. In one animal study, researchers found that certain types of protease enzymes could reduce inflammation better than Aspirin. A review of 10 studies showed that bromelain was effective at reducing inflammation and pain associated with osteoarthritis. That same review also noted that bromelain could be used to reduce the inflammation associated with sinusitis.

Potentially fight certain types of cancer

Multiple test-tube and animal studies have looked into protease’s ability to manage cancer risk. Bromelain, in particular, has been linked to several beneficial effects regarding cancer.

In one test-tube study, bromelain was found to interfere with the growth of stomach and colon cancer cells. Bromelain was also able to induce death in existing stomach and colon cancer cells. Another study that used bromelain extracted from pineapple stem confirmed this finding. It concluded that bromelain could lower the risk of colon cancer. A third study investigated a combination of bromelain and papain (another type of protease) and found that it inhibited the growth and induced death in bile duct cancer cells.

Help reduce post-exercise muscle fatigue

Muscle fatigue and weakness typically set in within a few days of a strenuous workout. However, some protease enzymes can reduce the muscle soreness and weakness that’s associated with strenuous physical activity.

Two studies have provided the relevant research. One used a combination of bromelain and curcumin (an anti-inflammatory substance in turmeric) and another used a mix of bromelain, papain and trypsin. Both studies found that the protease enzymes reduce tenderness and soreness following workouts.

Speed up injury healing

Protease enzymes can also help people recover from various injuries faster. Much of this research concerns the topical application of proteases to wounds, but protease supplements have also been studied for their healing effects. In one study, patients who supplemented with protease were able to recover faster from dental surgery. Another study, which featured bromelain, confirmed that protease could help people recover from cosmetic surgery faster.

Are there any allergens or irritants in ProteaseZyme?

ProteaseZyme is formulated to be easy on the body, so it’s free of common allergens and irritants. Specifically, there is no dairy, lactose, peanuts, sugar, soy or wheat in ProteaseZyme.

Support protein digestion and better health with ProteaseZyme

Proteins are the building blocks of life, and your body needs plenty of building blocks to keep its tissues healthy. ProteaseZyme ensures that your gut can properly process those proteins, with a combination of enzymes proven to possess many health benefits.
