It’s a big job that affects your whole-body health, and so it’s important to keep your gut’s microflora well-nourished and in working shape.

That’s what FloraZyme Plus 42.5 is designed to do – deliver the right kind of bacteria to your gastrointestinal (GI) system and ensure they have the resources to flourish.

What does FloraZyme Plus 42.5 include?

FloraZyme Plus 42.5 is named after the heaping helping of probiotics included in every dose. Each serving of FloraZyme Plus 42.5 comes with 10 different strains of beneficial bacteria and more than 42 billion colony-forming units (cfus). Few probiotic supplements can compare with those numbers. Inside, here’s what every dose of FloraZyme 42.5 comes with:

Bifidobacterium longum

Bifidobacterium is one of two primary species (Lactobacillus being the other) of probiotics that is native to the human gut and supportive of its functions. In the case of B. longum, this good bacteria has proven beneficial effects against irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Several large-scale studies have demonstrated time and again that B. longum can help with the abdominal pain, constipation and diarrhea that is often associated with IBS. B. longum has also been studied for its effects on the common cold, and research demonstrates that the probiotic can reduce the duration and severity of cold infections.

Bacillus coagulans

B. coagulans has also been the subject of much probiotic research and like B. longum, B. coagulans can help with constipation, diarrhea and abdominal pain associated with IBS. Additional studies have individually confirmed its efficacy against constipation and diarrhea, so the research is strong here. B. coagulans may also be effective against rheumatoid arthritis. A study that included 45 rheumatoid arthritis patients found that B. coagulans reduced self-reported disability, compared to patients who only took a placebo.

Bifidobacterium bifidum

B. bifidum is yet another probiotic that can alleviate some of the symptoms associated with gut-related disorders like IBS. That’s not all B. bifidum can do, though, because some strains of the probiotic are also active members of the immune system. Specifically, B. bifidum can communicate with the body’s white blood cells to either respond to an infection or reduce inflammation.

Lactobacillus plantarum

L. plantarum is a popular probiotic, primarily for its ability to reduce abdominal pain and bloating in IBS patients. This was backed by a 2012 study that included 212 patients. After four weeks, the group that took L. plantarum responded better to treatment than the placebo group. Also, L. plantarum may be effective against some skin and heart conditions. A 2012 study that included 83 children found that the probiotic could alleviate some of the symptoms of eczema caused by atopic dermatitis. Another study in 2014 showed that L. plantarum could reduce several heart risk factors in postmenopausal women.

Lactobacillus acidophilus

L. acidophilus has also shown to help patients with IBS. Separate studies have demonstrated effectiveness against the bloating and the pain associated with IBS. Further, L. acidophilus has been studied for its potential efficacy in patients suffering from diarrhea. Studies have shown a marked improvement in some patients who take L. acidophilus while dealing with diarrhea. The effect was strongest in hospitalized patients, including patients whose diarrhea was caused by radiation therapy.

Lactobacillus salivarius

L. salivarius is most prevalent in the mouth, where it provides important immune functions. What makes L. salivarius so valuable is its ability to create antimicrobial compounds that kill off bacteria. In the mouth, these compounds limit the growth of plaque-causing bacteria. In the gut, L. salivarius can fight invasive pathogens, help process proteins and produce lactic acid.

Bifidobacterium infantis

B. infantis, like many other probiotics, is believed to help against gut disorders like IBS. Research has demonstrated its ability to relieve pain, gas and bloating in the GI tract. Unlike some other probiotic strains, though, B. infantis can also reduce the inflammation associated with other gut disorders, including ulcerative colitis. It may also help reduce inflammation in patients with psoriasis and chronic fatigue syndrome.

Lactobacillus bulgaricus

L. bulgaricus is primarily used by patients who have inflammatory bowel disease. Initial research suggests that L. bulgaricus may help with the symptoms associated with ulcerative colitis. Further, the probiotic can reduce the severity of symptoms in patients suffering from antibiotic-associated diarrhea.

Lactobacillus rhamnosus

L. rhamnosus is a robust probiotic, capable of surviving both acidic and basic environments. It is perfectly suited to colonizing the body’s intestinal walls and by doing so, it makes it difficult for harmful bacteria to do the same. L. rhamnosus, like all lactobacillus bacteria, also produces lactic acid, which makes the gut even more inhospitable to unfriendly bacteria.

Lactobacillus casei

L. casei is helpful for people who regularly deal with constipation. Research has shown a correlation between L. casei intake and easing of constipation symptoms. Also, L. casei can help improve the bowel habits of people suffering from Parkinson’s Disease.
